Nestled within a labyrinth of narrow streets, nine new apartments are being constructed over three floors on a brownfield site within a residential (terraced houses) area of Chadderton – with some geographical challenges to negotiate.

Developing relationships with the residents has been key, seeking their support during difficult deliveries and cranage activities, the team regularly updated a community notice board and offered a central point of contact for enquiries, along with developing a local newsletter. Ensuring that the development also leaves a legacy is important, and work with the local school and community centre to improve their facilities has been welcomed by the local community.

Environmentally the site following the established Environmental Plan with good effect. Site data is captured to enable the carbon emissions to be calculated and shared. The monitors site report highlighted that the quality of the information displayed on the community information board as being ‘first class and demonstrating the site commitment to the environment.
