In a bid to cultivate careers in construction and empower young individuals, John Southworth proudly announces its collaboration with One Manchester. The partnership aims to provide promising opportunities for young people seeking a foothold in the construction industry.
Central to this endeavour is the ‘UK Year of Service Work Placement’ initiative, orchestrated by the National Citizen Service (NCS). This initiative, geared towards facilitating the transition of young people from diverse backgrounds into the workforce, aligns perfectly with the mission of John Southworth and One Manchester.
As part of this initiative, John Southworth will be extending a welcoming hand to a Grounds Maintenance Operative, offering a comprehensive nine-month placement comprising 35 hours per week. Notably, the placement guarantees compensation at the Real Living Wage, currently standing at £12 per hour, ensuring fair remuneration for the efforts invested.
Moreover, the initiative goes beyond monetary compensation, providing wraparound support and training to nurture essential skills essential for success in the construction sector. Recognising the importance of holistic development, additional learning opportunities and enrichment activities will also be on offer, enriching the overall experience of the placement.
Steven Brown, Managing Director at John Southworth, says, “By joining this programme, we are forming part of a member network across the country; offering a unique opportunity to someone aged 18-24 to enter the world of construction and start to build a trade or career that will support them throughout their working life. This is just one example of how we engage with the communities we work in and make a positive impact on society.”
