Background

Allan has worked in the Construction sector for 36 years, all of which have been at John Southworth. He initially joined the company at the age of 16 on a YTS scheme in 1988, whilst studying for his NVQ in his chosen subjects, Groundworks and Brickwork.

Allan continued working with the business, utilising his skills for 19 years before taking on the role of Site Manager. Following his experience in Site Management, Allan progressed to the role of Contracts Director in 2016, which he continues to do.

Allan’s knowledge of the construction industry and the company in general, obtained from grass-roots level, is invaluable. He manages and oversees all construction activities on site and is there to offer his expertise and knowledge to the staff whenever required.

Skillset / Responsibilities

  • Overseeing contract programmes, ensuring works are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
  • Overseeing all subcontractors, ensuring they are performing and adhering to site rules and resolving any issues that may occur.
  • Building and maintaining strong business relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Managing health and safety on all sites and ensuring compliance as a minimum standard.
  • Co-ordinating in-house labour across the business.
  • Resolving any technical issues as and when they occur on site by liaising with design teams, sub-contractors and project managers.
  • Actively participating in various site-related meetings, including subcontractor pre-start meetings and weekly team meetings across various sites, where programmes are reviewed and potential issues discussed along with solutions.
