Background

Steven has worked in the Construction sector for 25 years, all of which have been at John Southworth, where his career journey began in 1999, when he took on the role of Apprentice Plumber.

Learning the business and developing new skills, Steven progressed in the company, where he went on to take the role of Managing Director in 2009.

Managing all aspects of the business, Steven secures works, following which, he ensures all design responsibilities and legislative compliance requirements are met.

Utilising his strong leadership, business management and analytical skills, Steven can resolve issues and complexities with logic and reason, whilst keeping conversant with new developments and technology in the industry.

Skillsets / Responsibilities

  • Leading and overseeing the overall operations of the business and providing strategic guidance and direction to the team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of existing and new regulations, legislation and ongoing changes within the construction industry.
  • Preparing tender documentation to meet specific requirements including budget, timeframe and scope.
  • Ensuring robust health and safety measures are in place across the business to keep everyone safe, planning each element of the build, being a key driver.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the Future Homes Standard 2025, along with net zero targets and obligations.
  • Assisting in design and buildability of Passive House schemes, using experience gained from training and working across numerous projects.
  • Providing masterclass workshops across the construction sector to promote innovation and continuous learning.
