Background

As an experienced, fully qualified, Chartered Architectural Technologist, Steven held an extensive, thirty-seven-year background of expertise in architectural design, project management and technical detailing before joining John Southworth in 2024.

In his previous role of Regional Director, Steven led a team of architectural technologists and designers on many high-profile projects. For each project, he would ensure compliancy with regulations and delivery on time and budget, whilst providing high quality, sustainable architectural solutions for his clients.

With experience gained across various areas of the construction industry, Steven oversees the design of each of our projects from concept to completion, ensuring statutory compliance is not only met, but exceeded.

Skillset / Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in drafting and developing detailed technical drawings and specifications with the use of AutoCAD, Caddie, SketchUp and NBS.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials and detailing.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of UK Building Regulations, Fire Safety Standards and compliance with the Building Safety Act.
  • Aptitude in planning processes, building design, policies and consultations.
  • Ability in managing multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers and contractors.
  • Skilled in coordination of design delivery, in alignment with project timelines and budgets.
  • A strong communicator, experienced in presenting to stakeholders and managing client expectations.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles including BREEAM and Passivhaus standards.
  • Strong analytical skills in resolving design challenges.
  • Capacity to innovate, whilst maintaining structural and aesthetic integrity.
  • Skilled in preparing reports, presentations and technical documentation.
  • Competent in conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with design specifications and resolving onsite issues.
